PURPOSE: In recent years, the incidence of childhood obesity in Europe, and Spain in particular, has increased dramatically. Bariatric surgery could play a major role in treating of adolescents with severe obesity. However, no specific guidelines for bariatric surgery currently exist in Spain. METHODS: The Board of the Spanish Society for Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Diseases (SECO) proposed a study of childhood obesity by using the Delphi method. This prospective study involved 60 experts from nine national societies. Each society leader recruited experts from their society in obesity-related fields. Two online questionnaires were taken, and consensus on guidelines for various obesity treatments was reached according to the percentage of answers in favor or against inclusion of a given guideline. Based on these results, preoperative, surgical management and follow-up of childhood obesity management among others were analyzed. RESULTS: The survey results indicated significant concern among all societies regarding obesity. There was strong consensus with regard to adolescents and obesity, medical treatment, dietary recommendations, environmental and social factors, and goals for adolescents with obesity. Consensus on the use of intragastric balloons and other techniques was not reached. However, biliopancreatic diversion was rejected as a primary treatment, and mandatory psychological/psychiatric assessment was agreed upon. Inclusion criteria accepted were similar to those for adults with the exception of surgery in those with a body mass index <40. CONCLUSIONS: Spanish obesity-related societies are aware of the societal problem of childhood obesity. Multisociety development of national approaches may arise from consensus-building studies among specialists.

La esquizofrenia es una enfermedad mental que, aun siendo abordada desde el siglo XVIII por Kraepelin y Bleuler, actualmente sigue causando desconcierto respecto a su curso y tratamiento. El objetivo de este trabajo era revelar con base en las investigaciones realizadas desde el año 2000 sobre psicoterapias para la esquizofrenia, la terapia que en la actualidad evidencia mayor eficacia para el funcionamiento integral de estos pacientes. Este estudio hizo uso de una metodología bibliométrica donde se analizaron un total de 71 artículos abstraídos de las siguientes bases de datos: Scopus, Pubmed, Medline, ScienceDirect, EbscoHost, Redalyc y Proquest. En los hallazgos encontrados, se evidenció que la terapia cognitivo comportamental fue utilizada en 30 de los 71 artículos. Terapias relacionadas como la cognitiva, y la cognitiva dirigida específicamente al manejo de habilidades sociales sumaron entre las dos otros 19 artículos. Estas terapias se destacaron por propiciar un tratamiento global para los pacientes.


Schizophrenia is a psychiatric illness that has been approached since the eighteenth century by Kraepelin and Bleuler, but continues to cause confusion with respect to its course and treatment. The objective of this study was to reveal, through research realized since 2000 on psychotherapy for schizophrenia, the therapy that with current evidence improves the efficacy for the integral function of these patients. This investigation was based on a bibliometric methodology that analyzed a total of 71 items abstracted from the following databases: Scopus, PubMed, Medline, ScienceDirect, EbscoHost, Redalyc and Proquest. The outcomes of the study demonstrated that cognitive behavioral therapy was used in 30 of the 71 articles analyzed. Related therapies, such as cognitive and cognitive specifically aimed at the management of social skills, added another 19 of these articles. These therapies were recognized for promoting an essential treatment for the patient.

Esta investigación proporciona nuevos datos sobre la actividad clínica y docente que desarrollan en el Sistema Público de Salud los Psicólogos Internos Residentes y los psicólogos clínicos con competencias docentes sobre el proceso de formación de especialistas PIR. Se construyó un cuestionario, el C-PIR, en el que se integraron variables asociadas a las siguientes áreas temáticas: 1) características del proceso de acceso a la formación especializada; 2) actividad clínica de los especialistas en formación; 3) recepción de docencia y actividad investigadora de los especialistas en formación; 4) actividad clínica de los supervisores de los especialistas en formación; 5) presencia relativa de modelos psicoterapéuticos y actividad clínica característica; y 6) dificultades percibidas asociadas al proceso de formación especializada. Se obtuvo colaboración del 20,19 por ciento de residentes (incorporados entre 1999-2001). Las áreas temáticas antedichas fueron evaluadas en 165 dispositivos de Salud Mental diferentes, lo cual corresponde al 61,76 por ciento de áreas docentes acreditadas. Se discuten los resultados en el contexto de los recientes avances de la Psicología Clínica en el ámbito sanitario. (AU)

Current situation of clinical psychology residence in spain: data for a comprehensive evaluation. this study pretends to offer new data on psychologist’s clinical and teaching activity in the public health system. equal emphasis is paid to psychology residents as clinical psychology supervisors. the c-pir questionnaire was developed to accomplish variables related with the following topics: 1) process of access to the specialized teaching period; 2) clinical activity carried out by clinical psychology residents; 3) training and research activities received by clinical psychology residents; 4) clinical activity showed by supervisors; 5) relative presence of psychotherapeutic models and kind of clinical activity associated; and 6) troubles perceived by the residents regarding the specialized teaching process. 20,19% of residents (incorporation: 1999-2001) participated. the mentioned topics were assessed in 165 different mental health units concerning 61,76% of teaching areas accredited. results are discussed in the context of recent clinical psychology advances in public health settings (AU)
